Tunisia-Tunisia participates in 2nd meeting of Berlin Conference Follow-up Committee on Libya

Tunisia participated this week in the second meeting of the Berlin Conference International Follow-up Committee on Libya ( at the level of senior officials)  by video conference
The meeting was held with the participation of member states of the Berlin process, regional and international organisations and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).Stephanie Turco Williams.
Director-General of Arab and Islamic Affairs at the Foreign Ministry Mohamed Ben Youssef, who attended the meeting, repeated Tunisia’s steadfast position of support for international legality and a peaceful settlement of the crisis in Libya.
There is a need to reach a comprehensive and lasting solution for a sustainable ceasefire in Libya that “will pave the way for the resumption of the political process.”
“Tunisia is convinced that only Libyan stakeholders can resolve the conflict,” he added.
Tunisia’s representative also urged states and international organisations to support Libya in this global health crisis, it said.
The second meeting of the Follow-up Committee was chaired by Director General for Political and Security Affairs at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sebastiano Cardi. The meeting was initially set to take place in February in Rome.
Tunisia participated in the first meeting of the Follow-up Committee entrusted with enforcing the decisions of Berlin Conference held last February 16 in Munich, Germany, but did not attend Berlin Conference (January 19).
Tunisia called during this first meeting for sustaining the ceasefire among belligerents and expressed readiness to make part of work teams that will be formed as part of the follow-up of the Berlin Conference process.
