Tunisia will host the first African conference on combating illicit financial flows in Africa from June 26 to 28, 2024. The conference is organized by the African Union under the theme “Africa’s Tax Agenda in Combating Illicit Financial Flows: From Words to Action.” Tunisia’s hosting of this conference is part of its ongoing commitment to supporting African joint efforts to address developmental challenges, reads a press release by the Foreign Ministry.
It underscores Tunisia’s emphasis on supporting governance, combating illicit financial flows, fighting financial corruption, tax evasion, and money laundering. They will discuss the phenomenon, identify its causes and contributing factors, exchange best practices, and explore ways to enhance international cooperation to combat illicit financial flows. The objective is to achieve comprehensive growth and sustainable development in line with Africa’s Agenda 2063 vision and aspirations.
