Tunisia-Tunisia welcomes announcement of ceasefire in Libya (Foreign Ministry)

Tunisia welcomed, Friday, the announcement of a ceasefire issued by both the delegations of the Joint Libyan Military Committee (5 + 5) in Geneva, under the auspices of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, and considers it an important step towards achieving a complete and permanent Libyan political settlement.

Tunisia hailed further the positive spirit that marked these meetings and the climate of confidence that prevailed in the between the various Libyan parties, adding that it blesses this significant agreement and welcomes its contents as an accomplishment that represents a basic pillar in the path of achieving the desired political settlement, reads a statement by the foreign ministry.

On this occasion, Tunisia also wished to communicate once again its gratitude for the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya in accompanying the Libyan parties for the achievement of the peaceful path to solving the crisis, and it is fully confident that this arrangement will have the full support of the international community, added the statement.

Tunisia finally renewed its full readiness to secure the best conditions for the success of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, which it will be host at the beginning of next November, with the purpose of achieving security, peace and lasting stability in brotherly Libya.
