Tunisia-Tunisia welcomes results of Libyan Political Dialogue Forum

Tunisia welcomed the results of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, which was held under the supervision of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya. Tunisia noted the forum result including  “important agreements and advanced steps associated with determining the roadmap to settle the crisis, and agreeing on a date for holding elections on December 24th.”, in addition to establishing and unifying the powers of the executive authority, reads a statement by the presidency of the republic.

Tunisia asserted its “full regard to the negotiation process”, which was hosted from 09 to 15 November in the framework of the first round of this forum, welcoming “the positive and productive atmosphere that distinguished all participants to provide priority to the logic of dialogue and consensus, and to display a patriotic spirit and high responsibility ” which was translated into the scope of their belief in the need of speeding up the end of the suffering of the Libyan people and achieving a comprehensive political settlement.”

Tunisia also expressed hope in building on the outcomes of this forum to solve the crisis”, asking all Libyan parties to “continue to work in the same positive spirit to reach the wanted goals as soon as possible”  in order to respond to the aspirations of the Libyan people in ending the crisis and rebuild lasting security and stability and dedicate themselves to building and reconstruction efforts in the context of respecting Libya’s unity and sovereignty, adds the same source.

The statement evoked Tunisia’s keenness to present logistical and organizational support to this forum so that it meets in the most suitable conditions to devote the brotherly and neighbourhood relations that bind it to brotherly Libya. Tunisia’s re-emphasized it solid engagement “to proceed in assisting the efforts of the United Nations support mission in Libya to reach a lasting political and peaceful settlement of the crisis, it also expressed its complete readiness to further support its efforts to make the forthcoming rounds of dialogue a success. “
