The Tunisian Embassy in Brussels has informed Tunisian nationals in Belgium that everything required is being done, in coordination with the Tunisian Consulate in Brussels and the Belgian authorities, as well as with the family of the deceased, to know the exact circumstances of the death of a Tunisian national in police detention centre which happened on Thursday, January 12, 2022.
Sourour Aouda, a 46-year-old Tunisian woman who operates in associations, was discovered dead in a cell of the “zonal guard” of the Brussels-Capital-Ixelles police.
Following this incident, the Belgian public prosecutor’s office authorized the opening of an inquiry to return to the circumstances of her death.
