Tunisia-Tunisian journalists protest in the Kasbah

In reply to the appeal of the national union of Tunisian journalists, journalists are observing, this Thursday, November 26, 2020, a day of anger in the Kasbah.

Dozens of journalists are currently gathered in Kasbah palace chanting several slogans to communicate their demands, including in particular the publication of the framework agreement for journalists which was signed since January 9, 2019, in the JORT. This directs to monitor the media sector and set the rights of journalists regarding the minimum wage (1,400 dinars gross), bonuses and working hours (40 hours per week), holidays (between 30 and 40 days, depending on seniority) as well as social security.

Through this movement, journalists additionally call for the payment of the wages of those working in confiscated media establishments, to regularize the precarious situation of public media establishments, to recruit unemployed graduates from the Institute of Press and Sciences of the IPSI information, support media establishments affected by the coronavirus pandemic, etc.
