Photojournalist Yassine Gaidi was awarded the “People Power 2020” prize last Monday at a ceremony arranged by the Dutch Foundation, in cooperation with the Dutch Embassy in Tunisia.
Mr Gaidi partook in the competition organized by the World Image Press Foundation with the participation of 38 other photojournalists who displayed 84 photographs. He obtained first prize with a photo that depicts a clash between a woman and law enforcement officials during a march led by parents of students against the ongoing teachers’ strike in Tunis.
You can see his photos as well as the pictures of other artists in the exhibition: “People Power: Witnesses of protest since 1975” in the hall of the City of Culture until December 26.
It should be noted that Mr Gaidi is a professional reporter-photographer from the Anadolu Agency who has made the media coverage of various national and international events such as the Libyan and Egyptian revolutions.
