Tunisia-Tunisian Red Crescent: “Under the permission of President of Republic, an aid ship will be directed to Palestine” [Video]

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, spokeswoman for the Tunisian Red Crescent Buthaina Qaraqba revealed that, with the permission of the President of the republic Kais Saied, an aid ship will be directed for the first time to support the Palestinian brothers in Gaza.

Qaraqba noted that the process of sorting the aid donated by Tunisians, in extremely generous quantities, is currently taking place at the storage headquarters of the Tunisian Red Crescent. This effort is being conducted by Red Crescent members and Tunisian volunteers from all regions of the republic. She remarked that the Red Crescent has specialized storage facilities for medicines that meet required specifications, including refrigerated rooms and facilities for storing foodstuffs.

She refuted claims spreading on social media regarding the destruction of aid, clarifying that the images being shared are related to sorting operations. She mentioned that some of these images were published by the Red Crescent, while others were falsified and have been exploited for misinformation.

She stressed that in all aid collection operations worldwide, after collection and sorting, attention is paid to the expiration of some materials or medicines. These items are not destroyed; instead, they are maintained at the headquarters of the Tunisian Red Crescent. Their destruction, when required, follows specific mechanisms and destruction reports. The Red Crescent has also developed a strategy to dispose of materials nearing expiration by distributing some of them for the benefit of Tunisians.

Qaraqba revealed that four campaigns of Tunisian aid have already been directed to Gaza, including medicines, clothes, para-medical materials, and infant formula. She also threatened legal action against anyone carrying out smear campaigns against the organization.
