Tunisia-Tunisian universities: 66% of students are girls, highest rate in Africa

The Minister of Family, Women, Children and the Elderly, Amel Bel Haj Moussa reported during her participation in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia at the Congress on “The Place of Women in Islam” (6-8 November), that the rate of girls registered in public universities in Tunisia has reached 66%, the highest rate in Africa and the Arab world.

The minister furthermore indicated that 99.7% of girls aged 6 are in school. The minister also recalled that Tunisia is ranked at the head of African and Arab countries in the number of female university researchers.
