U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia Donald Blome commended the Tunisian security forces for responding so quickly and professionally following the terrorist attack on Friday near the embassy headquarters.
“I would like to thank the Tunisian authorities for their immediate protection of the U.S. Embassy today”, he stated in a declaration posted on the Embassy’s Facebook page.
He also expressed sorrow to learn of the loss of First Lieutenant Taoufik Missaoui, extending sincere condolences to his family and colleagues, wishing for a speedy recovery to the brave Tunisian officers who were injured.
The Ambassador reaffirms in this statement his country’s dedication to the longstanding friendship relations binding Tunisia and the United States and alliance with Tunisia against the scourge of terrorism asserting that all personnel at the U.S. Embassy are safe.
