Tunisia-UGTT: 2023 finance law does not meet the expectations of citizens

The deputy secretary general of the Tunisian Labor General Union (UGTT), Monem Amira, said this Thursday that the 2023 finance law does not meet the expectations of citizens, overwhelmed by a decline in purchasing power.

In a statement to the media on the sidelines of a conference on the 2023 finance law, held at the headquarters of the Regional Labor Union in Médenine, Amira added that the UGTT has reservations about this law.

The Union presented alternatives and suggestions to the government, but the latter did not take them into consideration, he noted.

Among these proposals is notably the maintenance of the subsidy, emphasised the union official. Amira estimated in this regard, that this 2023 budget is based on hypotheses impossible to carry out.

The holding of a national administrative commission of the union center is planned after the end of meetings of the regional councils of regional labour unions to examine the latest developments in the country.
