Tunisia – UGTT calls for expanding group of exempt from income tax

The expert with the UGTT, Karim Trabelsi, called, on Monday, during a round table involving the tax reform, the government to reconsider the basis of subjects exempt from income tax.

He confirmed that this base will have to be expanded to households with an annual income of less than 7000 TND  , instead of the 5000 currently fixed.

He clarified that 7000 TND  per year is the new threshold of poverty in Tunisia.

He also called upon to publication of the 2023 bill, as well as the reform of the tax system, before their ratification by the President of the Republic, in order to permit, at least, civil society to react there.
