Tunisia-UGTT condemns the increases on commodities

The Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT) denounced, on Thursday, June 3, 2021, the increases on some basic products, in particular sugar, and the engagements that the government had made to international donors.

Recollecting that the economic situation is only the result of political tensions in the nation, the UGTT communicated its refusal in the face of these policies, qualifying them as antisocial and denounced the silence of the administration in the face of snuggling,  parallel trade and monopolies.

Accusing the government of systematically destroying the purchasing power of citizens, the UGTT demanded an increase in aid allowances for needy families and an urgent revision of the minimum wage.

It further called for speeding up the implementation of the agreements reached to begin social negotiations around the civil service and the revision of salaries in the private sector.
