Tunisia – UGTT: last increase in fuel prices is part of lifting of subsidies

The Secretary General of the Federation of Petroleum at the UGTT, Salouane Smiri, confirmed, this Sunday, that the last increase in fuel prices is a stage on the way to the end lifting of subsidies.

He clarified that these increases were not prompted by the international situation, since oil prices have been undergoing a record drop for a few weeks. But they testify to the government’s desire to obey the dictates of the IMF, for the lifting of subsidies.

He added that at this rate, the prices of gasoline will reach 4 to 5 dinars per litre, by 2026.
