The deputy general secretary of the UGTT, Samir Cheffi, disclosed this Wednesday to the media, on the sidelines of a pro-Palestine protest organized by the trade union centre in Beja, that the UGTT had sent a letter to the International Confederation Free Trade Unions, threatening to withdraw from this formation if the ICFTU does not correct its position in relation to the conflict in Gaza. He recollected that the ICFTU treated Palestinian and Israeli victims equally and treated at the same level the innocent victims who combat for their rights and their land, and their executioners who attack them systematically, without any restraint.
Cheffi confirmed that such a position is a shame for the confederation, and the UGTT would be obliged to freeze its membership in this international formation. He added that the withdrawal of the UGTT would have significantly serious consequences for the confederation.
