The president of the National Union of Tunisian Women (UNFT), Radhia Jerbi announced today that she had received numerous complaints of sexual harassment, extortion and blackmail, targeting women in nearly prestigious positions in public institutions and ministries.
These victims were obliged to choose between submitting to the sexual desires of their superiors and giving up their careers.
Radhia Jerbi further said that one of the complainants approached a minister to notify him of what is going on in her administration, but to no avail.
Jerbi also called on women who have been victims of sexual harassment in public or educational institutions not to stay silent and to condemn these practices by all means.
