Tunisia-USA delivers two field hospitals to Tunisia

Tunisia acquired on Thursday a $3 million (8.2 million dinars) US donation of two field hospitals with a faculty of 30 beds each.

The first one was set up at l Mongi Slim hospital in La Marsa while the second one will be placed in Mahdia governorate.

Speaking at the ceremony at La Marsa, Health Minister Faouzi Mehdi declared the two hospitals are equipped with a negative pressure system preventing airborne transmission.

US Ambassador to Tunisia Donald Blome stated the initiative aims to reduce pressure on public hospitals and to support Tunisia’s efforts in combating the coronavirus. These hospitals can easily be set up in any region of the country, he pointed out.

Since the outbreak, the United States has given Tunisia more than 36 million dinars to stem the spread of the COVID-19 and to manage its economic and social impact.
