The president of the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries (UTAP), Noureddine Ben Ayed called for the necessity to raise the price of milk in production by no less than 800 millime in accordance with the experiences of neighbouring nations and Arabs countries and lower the cost of fodder which represents 80% of the total of the breeder’s expenses.
Speaking, Wednesday at the National Conference on the preparations for the Great farming season 2022/2023, held, at the UTAP headquarters, Ben Ayed clarified that this increase must acquire, essentially, the production circuit to improve the conditions in which the breeder operates and ensure the sustainability of the sector and not burden citizen.
In this context, he recollected that milk is bought from the farmer at 1140 millimes when it is imported to 3000 millimes, which generated the crisis in this sector, reports the TAP.
