In a press release, the UTICA condemned the strike observed by private-sector workers in Sfax last Thursday. Emphasizing that it was the UGTT that called for the regional strike, the employers’ centre said the union plans to organize more strikes and acts of protest in the rest of the country.
The statement evoked the economic situation in the country, indicating that business leaders are now fighting to save their companies and preserve jobs.
UTICA warned against any escalation, noting that it has many legal and disciplinary mechanisms, but prefers to proceed with “wise and thoughtful” solutions, based on social dialogue.
