The Chamber of the Court of First Instance of Monastir gave yesterday, a judgment convicting and incarcerating the three defendants in the case of the death of a student at the Ksar Helal University dormitory, as confirmed by the official spokesperson for the courts of Monastir and Mahdia, Farid Ben Jha.
He added that the judgment provides for 8 months of detention against each of the guardians of the dormitory, the director of the university district and the director of university services of the centre, and that the charge of unintentional murder was brought for negligence, and not- compliance with the precautions provided for in chapter 217 of the Penal Code.
Note that the investigating judge decided to close the inquiry into the case of the death of a 20-year-old student which occurred on September 29, 2023, in a university dormitory in Ksar Helal. She was studying at the Higher Institute of Technological Studies, in Ksar Helal, she was ill and her roommate attempted to contact Civil Protection who, upon arrival, discovered that the student had died, knowing that the students had been unable to leave the home to save her because the guards had left leaving the main door closed, according to a previous statement from the official spokesperson for the courts of Monastir and Mahdia, Farid Ben Jha.
