Tunisia – Video: Kaïs Saïed chairs higher security council

President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed chaired, this Monday, the High Council of National Security meeting. He revealed at the opening of the meeting that several subjects impacting national security would be examined, including the fight against human traffickers and other smugglers.

Saïed likewise addressed the subject of road safety, assuring that the excessively high number of accidents and victims is not only due to the state of the roads but to a particular culture of road users.

The third subject addressed by Saïed was the necessity for all those responsible to assume responsibility, within the framework of their skills and specialties. He remarked that on many occasions it was necessary for the presidency to interfere to ask a local or regional official to intervene in this or that subject when he should take the initiative to do so due to his responsibilities.

Saïed afterwards addressed the subject of freedom of the press, he assured that this freedom is unconditional, as well as the freedom to think and express oneself, although, he cited, very often, freedom of thought is not there. He added that freedom of expression does not mean lies, falsehoods, defamation or attacks on people and their dignity, nor death threats. Saïed assured that it is necessary that national TV channels are national and engage in the process of liberation of the Nation. He ensured that despite all attempts, the media would never succeed in destabilizing public opinion.

The fifth subject addressed by Saïed during this meeting was that of the medical city of Kairouan. He assured that this project will see the light of day, despite everything, and that it will be clear once and for all. He added that once, Tunisian parties intervened with foreign capitals to reject financing for this project. Saïed launched some good news, that of the imminent signing of financing protocols, confirming that this project must see the light of day because the right to health is the right of all citizens.

The last subject was that of the country’s finance law, and Saïed assured that he is not ready to give up an ounce of our sovereignty and that we will, accordingly , have to rely on our own means to finance the state budget.
