Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, MP Mabrouk Korchid announced that mosques can be a tool of light as they could shift to instruments of darkness, evoking that two ṣaḥābî were killed in mosques.
Mosques can convert into a factory for terrorists, he stated, emphasising the part of the ministry of religious affairs in assuring that these places of worship remain a place where people can exercise religion in peace.
He felt that the Ministry of Religious Affairs is not accommodated for this role and that it just pays wages, without giving its oversight mission the interest it deserves.
Citing suspicious associations and organizations that compete with the ministry, the MP said different mosques now find themselves in the grip of extremist groups.
