Former spokesman for the National Guard Khlifa Chibani assured on Monday in an interview with Tunisie Numérique, that the thousands of sub-Saharan Africans who illegally live in Tunisia are a problem, before the carefreeness of the authorities. He clarified that they constitute a social, safe and even economic phenomenon, in several regions, such as Sfax.
He recollected that Europeans wanted to make Tunisia an asylum land, for Africans who wanted to go to Europe, but this did not work thanks to the pressure of civil society.
Chibani confirmed that these nationals represent a real problem, including security, in the terrorist sense of the term. He also recalled that many African countries from which these nationals are from Boko Haram territories and that their arrival in Tunisia could be perceived as part of the geographic redistribution of terrorist groups. Chibani called on the authorities to take an interest in this problem, since we do not know, to date, not even the number of sub -Saharan Africans in Tunisia.
He called at least, to identify them, to know their number, and to file them as we do with them all over the world, and if there are people who are problematic, we will have to expel them.
