Tunisia [Video]: Saied oversees ministerial meeting on popular consultation electronic platform

The President of the Republic, Kais Saied supervised today, Wednesday, December 29, 2021, a ministerial council at Carthage Palace, in which prime minister Najla Bouden, the Minister of Social Affairs, Malek Ezzahi, participated in particular, the Minister of Education, Fethi Sellaouti, Minister of Youth and Sports, Kamel Deguiche and the Minister of Communication Technologies, Nizar Neji.

This meeting was dedicated to examining the state of play of the continued preparations for the launch of the electronic platform connected to the popular consultation. The President of the Republic attended a presentation on the diverse technical aspects of this electronic platform, its operating mechanisms and how to partake.

“Some, who think themselves knowledgeable, have claimed that there is no such type of referendum, but it does exist and could be applicable, particularly through social media. Knowing that some countries such as Belgium and the Scandinavian countries apply it, ”he said.

Saied has likewise issued his instructions on the necessity to launch the popular consultation on the expired date, January 1, 2022, in accordance with the decisions taken on December 13, 2021. He again highlighted the importance of providing all the technical guarantees so that this electronic platform is an interactive and secure framework making it possible to follow the proposals of citizens in Switzerland and abroad and to implicate them in the formulation of proposals in various areas to be dialled later.

After that, the remaining stages that the country will go through will be executed during 2022. The President of the Republic also remembered, during this meeting, that the organization of this consultation is part of the formulation of a new vision allowing the sovereign Tunisian people to freely express their will.
