Tunisia-Video:Sfax hospital is flooded with trash: Whose fault is it?

Pictures and video footage keep circulating in connection to the piles of garbage and medical waste that penetrate the spaces of the Hedi Chaker hospital in Sfax. Hospital staff, particularly workers, immediately stepped up to denounce this situation and blame it on Sfax town hall services.

Nevertheless, what should be remembered is that the processing of health care waste is not the recourse of town halls, since it is possible that it contains bio-risk waste.

While it is correct that health workers are called upon, in hospitals and all other healthcare structures, to classify waste, to isolate biohazardous waste from household waste, everyone understands that this sorting is far away. to be as effective as one would like. As a consequence, the extraction and treatment of garbage from healthcare facilities remain the duty of the hospital management, which is commanded to be under contract with a company approved and authorized for this type of waste treatment.

So, if the Hedi Chaker hospital is overwhelmed with rubbish, it is not an issue of trying to blame anyone, since it is solely the responsibility of the management of the hospital. ‘establishment! And this leadership had better hurry and do its job, instead of looking for a scapegoat.
