Tunisia-Waste imported from Italy: Sacked, Fayçal Bedhiafi comes out of his silence

Fayçal Bedhiafi, former director-general of the national waste management agency, broke his silence a week after his removal .

“I discovered the import file for waste from Italy by chance on August 31,” he announced yesterday, Thursday, November 19, 2020, on Attassia tv. “I consequently contacted the General Directorate of Environment and Quality of Life under the Ministry of the Environment and Local Affairs on September 3 to take the required measures, but I received no response. “.

Confronted with this situation, he then communicated with the Minister of the Environment immediately on September 16, 2020, about the same file, but the department did not reply to his correspondence.

Bedhiafi emphasised that the import of waste is directly part of the prerogatives of the Minister of Environment and Local Affairs, emphasising that the agency has absolutely no connection with these operations in accordance with Decree 2317 of August 22, 2020.
