The head of the Manouba district of SONEDE, Habib Abdelli, indicated that a sudden break transpired since last Thursday at the level of the main canal supplying the Ettadhamen district in Ariana and Douar Hicher in La Manouba with drinking water. This disrupted the water supply, particularly during peak hours. He denied the complete interruption of drinking water.
He confirmed, in a statement to TAP, that maintenance crew intervened immediately after the canal rupture, but that the matter needed the preparation of special equipment which was prepared according to the exact technical conditions and standards mandated by the repair, highlighting the concern to carry out the interventions as quickly as possible.
He emphasised that the network was temporarily tied to another channel to ensure the supply of drinking water, avoid interruptions and continue the supply, which documented disruptions during peak periods, particularly for residents of apartment buildings. high-rise and high-altitude neighbourhoods, unlike the normal supply at night for everyone.
He underlined that supplies will return to normal for the areas affected by this damage, indicating that the appearance of such sudden fractures is possible and that the interests of the region are putting all their human and material capacities to intervene and carry out the necessary repairs.
