Tunisia: When is the night of doubt in Ramadan?

The Mufti of the Tunisian Republic officially declared on Saturday evening the appearance of the lunar crescent marking the start of the month of Chaâbane. According to the press release, this observation indicates that Sunday, February 11, 2024, corresponds to the first day of Chaâbane of the year 1445 AH.

Therefore, the “night of doubt”, a tradition observed to determine the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, would be March 10.

This vigil will correspond to 29 Chaâbane 1445 Hegira and will mark the observation of the lunar crescent announcing the first day of Ramadan.
