The World Health Organization felicitated Tunisia through a press release for the success of its vaccination campaigns organized on August 8, 15 and 29, 2021. The organization additionally congratulated the international partners who gave millions of doses to Tunisia through the COVAX initiative or as part of bilateral donations.
The WHO said this reflects the dynamism and engagement of all actors to respond efficiently to the health crisis and deal with the COVID pandemic. It pointed out that thanks to these efforts, lives will be saved, infections will be avoided and the health system will be better equipped to cope with new waves of pandemics.
With more than 35% of the population having received at least one dose and approximately 20% of people fully vaccinated (1,600,000 people), Tunisia is advancing towards the goal of 50% of people protected by vaccination by the end of October.
It can rely on a solid network of Basic Health Centers whose experience in vaccination is recognized, the statement read.
