Tunisia-World Water Day: Tunisia still suffers from water scarcity

In a statement to Tunisie Numérique, expert in development and water resources Houcine Rhili expressed that on the occasion of World Water Day, Tunisia is still suffering from water scarcity, by continuing the periodic cutting off of drinking water in nearly 14 states in the Republic.

Rhili added that the dam reserves in Tunisia did not surpass 37 %of their real storage capacity, with a quantity that did not exceed 862 million cubic meters, until the eleventh of March.

Our speaker likewise pointed out that the water situation in Tunisia is challenging and requires reconsidering the whole system and reviewing the public policy in the field of water at its various stages, to adapt to climate changes and the reduction in the water capabilities of Tunisia in general.
