Tunisia-Yosra Frawes: “the personal status code favors marital rape”

Speaking to Shems FM, president of the Tunisian Association of Democratic Women (ATFD) Yousra Fraoues said she is “against the celebration of Women’s Day. ”
“The celebration of the Tunisian women’s day is a kind of sacred that we should go beyond, especially with the evolution of society and mentalities, especially since the current context is not the same as that of the year 1956,” she explained.
Fraoues added that “all women are different, (…) except that they have one thing in common which is discrimination against them. ”
She considered that “the symbolic celebration is now disturbing since the code of personal status is outdated by time.”
“The personal status code favours marital rape. »She assures.
She explained that article 13 of the personal status code stipulates that “The husband cannot, if he has not paid the dowry, force the wife to consummate the marriage, which sends the idea of money for sex. “
