Tunisia – Zakraoui: Kaïs Saïed’s call for referendum is illegal

The head of the general law department at the Faculty of Law of Tunis, Sghaïer Zakraoui, confirmed that the call for a referendum launched by the head of the state Kaïs Saïed is illegal.

He said that this appeal should have been accompanied by the draft constitution which will have to be presented during this referendum, to present voters time to study it before voting. He added that the deadline of June 30 for the publication of this draft constitution is insufficient since one cannot formulate a constitution in a month unless this constitution is already ready.
