Tunisia-Zouhair Maghzaoui: there is no real democracy in Tunisia

Democratic bloc MP Zouhair Maghzaoui, said today that there is no real democracy in Tunisia. Admittedly barely 1.5 million people voted in favour of the current political actors, he emphasised, remarking, in the same context, that a large part of Tunisian society is anti-system.

Reflecting on the latest nocturnal protests, Maghzaoui stated that acts of vandalism must be convicted, at the same time calling on sociologists to investigate it in order to be able to understand what is happening.

According to the deputy, the rallies as such are legitimate, while the acts of violence and pillage remain condemnable. He likewise praised Kais Saied’s trip to speak to citizens but believed that Rached Ghannouchi and Hichem Mechichi were afraid to do the same.
