Tunisian Minister of the Interior Meets Italian Counterpart in Rome

Today, on July 19, 2023, the Tunisian Minister of the Interior, Kamel El-Faqi, accompanied by a delegation of senior officials from the ministry, traveled to Rome to meet with his Italian counterpart, Matteo Bianchedi, and several of his aides at the Italian Ministry of the Interior.

This meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the robustness of the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially following the numerous visits made by the Italian Prime Minister to Tunisia and her active contribution to the signing of the memorandum of understanding between our country and the European Union.

The encounter also served as a platform for both parties to exchange views on areas of mutual interest for the interior ministries of the two countries, particularly the joint efforts made to tackle irregular immigration and enhance support to mitigate its adverse consequences.

During this occasion, both ministers emphasized their commitment to exert maximum efforts to halt irregular immigration affecting our country and attempts to cross into Italian territory, while commending the outcomes of operations conducted by Tunisian security units and joint task forces in this regard.
