The exceptional relations between Tunisia and France and the opening of new prospects for expanding cooperation between the two countries were discussed at a phone conversation between President Kais Saied and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron Friday.
The French President expressed his country’s readiness to provide the aid Tunisia may need in this sensitive context.
For his part, Kais Saied stressed that the entire world has entered a new historical phase, which requires the use of innovative ideas, concepts and mechanisms.
With regard to the situation in Libya, Saied stressed his position in favour of an inter-Libyan solution without any foreign interference.
The President of the Republic said Tunisia values its sovereignty just as much as it values Libya’s, and will not be a rear base for no party.
Saied also recalled that Tunisia, together with Libya, is one of the countries most affected by the continued fighting and division.
He reiterated, in this regard, his rejection of any division of the Libyan state.
The two Heads of State once again exchanged invitations to make respective friendly and working visits after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.
