Tunisian-Samia Letaief: The right to health is no longer guaranteed

Speaking to Mosaiqur FM, Samia Letaief, member of the General Health Federation and of the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights under the UGTT, declared this Tuesday that the right to health was no longer guaranteed for patients who suffer from diseases other than the coronavirus.

She also denied reports that there is a Covid-19 circuit in each hospital. She added that the number of cases carrying the virus among medical and paramedical executives is increasing and that emergencies are full of suspected cases on a daily basis.

Letaief underlined the absence of a clear political will for the organization of the public health sector on the one hand, and the existence of disputes and tensions between heads of medical services and managers of hospitals. The latter think, according to her, only of their own interests in order to guarantee the most gain for the benefit of the complementary private sector outside the public service.
