Turkey-Turkish parliament agrees on Libya troop deployment bill

Grand National Assembly of Turkey has approved the Libya troop deployment bill. The passed bill will allow for the deployment of Turkish soldiers to Libya at any time for one year.

An extraordinary session started at the Turkish parliament at 2 p.m. local time (11:00 GMT) after the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) requested military support as part of a deal it signed with Turkey on Nov. 27.

Parliament Speaker Mustafa Sentop announced the bill passed with a 325-184 vote in the parliament, where President Tayyip Erdogan’s ruling AK Party and its nationalist associates retain a majority. All major opposition parties in the assembly voted against the bill.
