President-elect Joe Biden fastened his U.S. electoral victory by taking the battleground state of Arizona late on Thursday, though the official transition to his administration remains hampered as President Donald Trump refuses to accept defeat.
Biden was predicted to win Arizona after more than a week of vote counting from the Nov. 3 election, Edison Research announced. He becomes only the second Democratic presidential nominee in seven decades to win the traditionally Republican state.
Trump has alleged without evidence that he was deceived by widespread election fraud, but his legal objections have failed in court and state election officials list no serious irregularities.
