UK-3 women arrested for the murder of newborn baby girl

Three women were today detained for the murder of a newborn baby girl discovered dumped in a city street, the Daily Mail reported.

The infant’s body was found beneath a street lamp on a cobbled residential road in Portsmouth on the morning of January 25. A yellow Primark towel was found nearby that police believe the mother originally wrapped the infant in before abandoning her.

The suspects, 39, 21, and 20, who were all from the local area, were targeted in a dawn raid and arrested for conspiracy to murder.

Hampshire Police has examined hundreds of hours of CCTV footage from more than 60 different locations as part of its investigation into the tragedy.

According to the Mail, Several appeals were made for the mother to come forward amid fears for her health, and experts from the National Crime Agency were drafted in to help with the wide-scale investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Baker said today: ‘We know this case was upsetting for a lot of people within the community.
