UK ‘implores’ Israel to reopen border crossing points

British Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, Commonwealth and United Nations Tariq Mahmood Ahmad said Tuesday that his government urges Israel to promptly reopen the closed crossings, amid the operation in Rafah.

“We are imploring Israel to ensure that the crossings that were shut are opened immediately, including in Rafah,” he said. Moreover, he stressed concerns “about the prospect of a military incursion given the number of civilians that are sheltering there and the importance of Rafah in terms of crossing for aid.”
