A group of experts within the United Nations on Monday called on all 146 member states to recognize Palestinian statehood which would bring to an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and lasting peace in the entire Middle East.
“A two-state solution remains the only internationally agreed path to peace and security for both Palestine and Israel and a way out of generational cycles of violence and resentment,” the experts said in the document, adding that the move by the International Criminal Court to seek arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, as well as top Hamas leaders, represents “a promise of accountability and an end to impunity in the occupied Palestinian territory.”
“These courts must operate without foreign interference and threats, to uphold the promise of global justice and individual accountability for all victims of the conflict,” the experts underlined.
