UN: Fuel must be delivered to Gaza as soon as possible

The United Nations humanitarian chief, Martin Griffiths, yesterday Tuesday emphasised the necessity to bring fuel back to the Gaza Strip as soon as possible.

Griffiths told ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) that the effect of aid to Gaza so far has been minimal, adding: “We need more now…We need aid to reach civilians.” in need”.

For her part, the humanitarian coordinator in Palestine, Lynn Hastings, stated in her speech at the UN Security Council session on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue, that fuel is important for delivering aid to all areas of Gaza.

She added: “We will not restrict the deliveries of humanitarian aid to one place, we do not want humanitarian aid to be used as an attraction to transport people, and for this reason, we need fuel to transport the aid in all areas of Gaza.
