UN: Over 1M people in Gaza to face ‘death, starvation’ by mid-July

More than one million people in the Gaza Strip, half the population of the enclave, “are expected to face death and starvation” by mid-July, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization said on Wednesday in its latest Hunger Hotspots report.

The report warns that the current conflict in Gaza is expected to further worsen the existing levels of acute hunger, with famine and death already occurring, combined with the extremely high death toll, massive destruction, and forced displacement of almost the entire population of Gaza.

Additionally, the report indicates that there is a risk of “broader regional ramifications of the crisis.”
