The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) statedon Thursday that it estimates the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip after the war will cost between $30 billion and $40 billion and “could take decades.”
“The scale of the destruction is huge and unprecedented… this is a mission that the global community has not dealt with since World War II,” Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States Abdallah Al Dardari said.
Additionally, the UN agency said that around 70% of homes in the Gaza Strip have been destroyed so far, warning that the figure could reach 80% or 90% if the conflict continues.
