UN: Turkey-Syria earthquake is region’s ‘worst event in 100 yrs’

UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths stated Saturday that the Turkey-Syria earthquake was the “worst event in 100 years” in that region.

At a press conference in the Turkish province of Kahramanmaras, Griffiths described Turkey’s response to the disaster as “extraordinary.”
