The United Nations Human Rights office took to X on Sunday to comment on the latest decision made by Israel to block Al Jazeera from operating in the country.
“A free & independent media is essential to ensuring transparency & accountability. Now, even more so given tight restrictions on reporting from Gaza. Freedom of expression is a key human right. We urge govt to overturn the ban,” the office said.
Earlier, Al Jazeera announced it would be challenging the move legally, in order to protect its rights and its journalists.
