UNRWA HQ harassed by protesters in East Jerusalem

United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said in a post on X, , on Tuesday that the agency’s headquarters in East Jerusalem was damaged by Israeli protesters.

“This protest called by an elected member of the Jerusalem municipality is nothing less than harassment, intimidation, vandalism & damage to UN property,” Lazzarini wrote. The protest erupted after it was called for by an Israeli municipal official, according to Lazzarini. The short video footage attached to the post shows a number of people waving Israeli flags and shouting.

“Host countries, in this case Israel, are expected to protect United Nations premises, operations and staff at all times,” he emphasised.
