US bombs militants in Iraq, Syria on Biden’s order

The United States Defense Department announced on Sunday that the Air Force conducted multiple “defensive precision airstrikes” on facilities used by Iran-backed militants at the Iraqi-Syrian border.

“The targets were selected because these facilities are utilized by Iran-backed militias that are engaged in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks against US personnel and facilities in Iraq,” the statement noted, saying President Joe Biden ordered the attack.

“As demonstrated by this evening’s strikes, President Biden has been clear that he will act to protect US personnel,” the statement concluded.
