US embassy warns against travel to Lebanon

The US embassy in Beirut on Thursday issued a cautionary advisory urging American citizens to refrain from traveling to Lebanon due to the “complex” security environment.

“In particular, we call your attention to the Country Summary, which advises that the Lebanese government cannot guarantee the protection of US citizens against sudden outbreaks of violence and armed conflict,” the consulate said. ” US citizens in Lebanon should not travel to southern Lebanon, the Lebanon-Syria border area, or refugee settlements.”
