US House fails to elect speaker after 11 ballots

The United States House of Representatives adjourned without electing a speaker for the third consecutive day after Republican Kevin MacCarthy failed to garner enough votes in the 11th ballot. He currently requires 218 ballots to be elected, but he only managed 200 in the latest round. Democrat Hakeem Jeffries had 212, as all lawmakers from his party voted for him, with other candidates sharing the remaining 21 votes.
